The philosophy driving the design of the hospitals has been based on innovation and best international healthcare practice whilst addressing the specific needs of Cote d’Ivoire.
The Hospitals are designed to incorporate cutting edge technology and clinical best practice for infection control and efficient operations, with design intended to complement and enhance staff training and expertise. Innovative design and construction technologies have been paired with an understanding of the particular context of Cote d’Ivoire, such as climate, flexibility and use of locally sourced materials.
Designed with adaptability in mind, the buildings are thermally efficient, make use of renewable energy systems and sit within a specially designed ‘therapeutic’ landscape, with the landscaping complementing the overall architectural concept and using indigenous plant species to promote healing and recovery. The thoughtfulness of these features safeguards the quality and availability of health care for the Ivorian people.
